DIY Flag Car Magnet Cut Settings Hack With Cricut

DIY CRICUT CAR MAGNET

I’m sharing how to make a do-it-yourself hubby approved magnet for your car.

My husband (Nathan) recently asked, “can you make one of these flag magnets.” Challenge excepted! This would be my first time using my Cricut to cut magnet so I wasn’t quite sure my Cricut Explore would be able to cut magnet, but the flag turned out great, & was super affordable! Read on to find out how!

Firstly I couldn’t find any Cricut magnet sheets in stock at the local stores. I happened to find these craft magnet sheets at Hobby Lobby. Firstly I couldn’t find any Cricut magnet sheets in stock at the local stores. I happened to find these craft magnet sheets at Hobby Lobby.

 I worried the magnet wouldn’t stay on, as it only has a magnet rating strength of 1, it has held up and does not fall off. {I do take it off before the car wash though.}
Craft Magnet

Supplies:

  • Cricut Explore Air, Cricut Explore, or Cricut Maker
  • Magnet Sheets
  • Cricut Cutting Mat

I used my fine point blade and light grip mat. You can use any blade or mat just make the cut adjustments accordingly.

Switch the Cricut dial over to custom cut setting. I chose the magnetic sheet - 0.5 mm cut setting that circuit already has. Make sure the magnetized part of the magnet is face down, otherwise mirror your image. I had to run this cut 3x (three separate times) to make sure the magnet was cut all the way through. I know a bit much but it worked!

Now all you have to do is stick your new magnet to your vehicle!
